Despite the doom and gloom so many industries are facing, the outlook for Accounting pros remains solid. The 2009 Salary Guide from Robert Half forecasts average salary increases of 3.4% for finance and accounting pros.
Of course, some jobs (and companies) pay better than others. Three titles that will be most in demand according to the study are:
- Tax accountants
- Financial analysts, and
- Credit and collection specialists.
If you’re job hunting — or just looking to move up within your own company — playing up those skills can be a huge selling point.
The report noted that upper management is also increasingly looking for technically strong accounting people who also have “soft” skills, such as good communication, ability to lead others, etc.
