Fed disaster relief — new deadlines for filing

If your company was affected by Hurricane Ike, you’ll want to make note of the new deadlines you have for certain IRS filings.
The following parishes and counties have been declared a federal disaster area:
Louisiana
- Acadia
- Beauregard
- Calcasieu
- Cameron
- Iberia
- Jefferson
- Jefferson Davis
- Lafourche
- Plaquemines
- Sabine
- St. Mary
- Terrebonne
- Vermillion, and
- Vernon
Texas
- Angelina
- Austin
- Brazoria
- Chambers
- Cherokee
- Fort Bend
- Galveston
- Grimes
- Hardin
- Harris
- Houston
- Jasper
- Jefferson
- Liberty
- Madison
- Matagorda
- Montgomery
- Nacogdoches
- Newton
- Orange
- Polk
- Sabine
- San Augustine
- San Jacinto
- Trinity
- Tyler
- Walker
- Waller, and
- Washington.
Taxpayers in these areas will have until Jan. 5, 2009 to file returns, make tax payments or handle other certain time-sensitive acts that were due on or after Sept. 7, 2008. That includes the estimated tax and corporate tax returns that due Oct. 15.
The disaster relief also extends the initialĀ seven-day postponement that was announced Sept. 12 by IRS.
IRS’ computers will automatically identify taxpayers located in the disaster zone. If you have an affected business located outside the disaster area, contact IRS at 1-866-562-5227 to request relief.

I heard on the news that the IRS was giving taxpayers 7 extra days on their quarterly 941 reports. Is this true due to Hurricane Ike. Are we to write Hurricane Ike on our forms?
