Being exempt doesn’t mean your tax compliance is easy. Now, the feds are offering some help for accounting pros at exempt organizations. IRS is sponsoring three one-day workshops in small to mid-sized tax-exempt organizations. Among the topics covered are:

  • overview of tax-exempt status
  • activities that can risk your 501(c)3 status
  • completing Form 990
  • unrelated business income and gaming
  • employment issues
  • record-keeping, and
  • required disclosures.
The workshops cost $45 per person and will be held:
  • Chicago — Oct. 21, 22, 23
  • Detroit — Nov. 18, 19, 20, and
  • Memphis — Dec. 2, 3, 4.
For more info or to register, visit IRS’ site and click on the Calendar of Events. Or you can call 800-521-3980.

The folks that conduct those live classes also provide an online version of the content at http://www.stayexempt.org for folks that don’t live near a live training site.
