New per diem rates in effect Oct. 1

They’re here — and for once you have plenty of time to prepare.
The feds have released the new domestic per diem rates for travel taken on or after Oct. 1, 2008 through Sept. 30, 2009.
Even if your company doesn’t use per diem rates to reimburse traveling employees, the new rates are a useful tool for Accounting. By comparing the per diem rates to the amounts your travelers generally pay, you can see if you have some employees who are living a little too high on the hog when they travel.
